Analytical Chemistry Practical Session

Yesterday the students rotated through a series of five experiments which focussed on two different techniques that chemists use to analyse materials: Chromatography and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy.

Four different types of chromatography were investigated: column chromatography; High Performance Liquid Chromatography (using a simulation), Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and gas chromatography.

There was a 'buzz' in SMAF Physics this week

The Physics students started a new topic this week: Electricity and Magnetism. Sally used a Van De Graaf generator to demonstrate induction and the generation of static charge.
